HEALTH: Participants must be fit and in perfect health to undertake any safari. Please refer to Safari Dossier for further information.

VISAS: It is the client's sole responsibility to ensure that they hold a valid passport and all necessary visas. Passport should be valid for 6 months after completion of safari. Clients must have sufficient cash (USD) on hand for visa where required.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: Comprehensive Travel Insurance covering cancellation, curtailment, medical, emergency travel and assistance is compulsory on.

SUMMIT-TRAILS PAYMENTS & CANCELATIONS POLICIES

Cancellations

  • All cancellations should be made in writing and will only be deemed effective upon acknowledged receipt by Summit-Trails Adventures.

Cancellations will be subject to the following penalties:

  • 20% Cancellation fee due for cancellation more than 90+ days prior to departure.
  • 50% Cancellation fee due for cancellation 45 - 90 days prior to departure.
  • 80% Cancellation fee due for cancellation 30 days or less prior to arrival date.

Normal cancellation fees apply if your wish to postpone your departure. Date changes will be treated on an individual basis and will attract an administration fee

SAFARI JEEPS/CARS/LAND-CRUIZERS

All of our safari Jeeps are equipped with popup roof for shade against African sun; are extended body with roomy seats for comfortable sitting and stretching out legs. Every guest is accessible to window seat. all jeeps are also fitted with fridges, power charge sockets and VHF radio calls for easy and fast communication between the base office. A vehicle in only as good as the driver and drivers are excellent. Each one is custom designed with large photographic roof hatch, extra dust proofing, comfortable seats with seat and canvas covers, fully equipped first aid kits, binoculars, a selection of field guides with bottles of mineral water at no additional cost.

All of our safari jeeps carries a maximum of six passengers so that every passenger is guaranteed a window seat and access to the roof hatch at all times during the safari. We service all of our jeeps after every each safari.

SAFARI GUIDE/DRIVER

Driver guides are all trained naturalists who have more than five years experience with us, they know their way around the parks and are skilled at spotting and identifying wildlife. They are also trained to prepare delicious picnic lunches in the bush, so that you can maximize your game viewing opportunities.

HOW MUCH TO TIP YOUR DRIVER/GUIDE

Generally, you should aim to tip your safari drivers between $25-$50+ per day, also depending on the length of your journey, but if your guide was exceptional, you can certainly give them more.

Day 1 : Flying from any international airport

Your final destination is Kilimanjaro International airport(KIA) when booking your flight:

Day 2 : Tanzania, Arusha

Arriving at Kilimanjaro Int'nal airport. Our drivers/guides/representive will be at the airport waiting for pickup and transfer to your accommodation in Arusha or Moshi. which is about 45 minutes drive.

Day 3 : Tanzania, Arusha

Relaxing and getting familiar with locals/aclimatizations

Day 4 : Tanzania, Kilimanjaro's

After breakfast, we drive to Londorosi gate which takes about 3hours from Arusha. Registration will take place and other formalities. The 4WD will take you further up to Lemosho glades, thereafter you can walk for about 2-3hrs to MtiMkubwa Campsite (9,200ft) Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 5 : Tanzania, Kilimanjaro

  • Distance : 8.5km / 5.3mi
  • Hiking time: 7 hrs
  • Habitat: forest-moorland zone

Today you will trek across a plateau of grassy moorland and heather scattered with volcanic rock formations. Our destination for today is the Shira 1 Camp from where there are often views of Kibo Peak floating on the clouds. We gain a reasonable amount of altitude today and parts of the route are fairly steep.

Day 6 : Tanzania, Kilimanjaro

  • Shira 2 Camp (3840m)
  • Accommodation: Four season tent
  • Distance: 9 km/ 5.5mi
  • Hiking Time 5-6 hours
  • Habitat: Moorland

After breakfast, we continue on the trail leading out of the forest and into a savannah of tall grasses, heather, and volcanic rock draped with lichen beards. As we ascend through the lush rolling hills and cross several streams, we reach the Shira Ridge before dropping gently down to Shira 1 for hot lunch and then continue to Shira 2 which is 9kmgreat to acclimatize.

Day 7 : Tanzania, Kilimanjaro

  • Lava Tower (4630m)
  • Accommodation: Four season tent
  • Distance: 13 km

From the Shira Plateau, we continue to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower, called the Shark's Tooth. Great way to acclimatize day.

Day 8 : Tanzania, Kilimanjaro

  • Hiking Time: 7 hrs
  • Habitat: Moorland-Desert

Your trek starts with an ascent with far-reaching panoramic views, walking in to the climatic zone of the upland desert and on the lava ridges beneath the glaciers of the Western Breach. You will reach the distinct pinnacle of the Lava Tower (4640 m), our high point for the day and a great place to enjoy your lunch. In the afternoon we make a steep descent to our camp for the night, located in the base of the Great Barranco Valley (3960 m), sheltered by towering cliffs but with extensive views of the plains below

Day 9 : Tanzania, Kilimanjaro

  • Karanga Camp (3950m)
  • Accommodation: Four season tent
  • Distance: 6 km
  • Hiking Time: 3-5 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley campsite. This is a short day meant for acclimatization. Hot Lunch is served and spend the rest of the afternoon resting. Dinner and overnight at the camp

Day 10 : Tanzania, Kilimanjaro

  • Barafu Hut (4600)
  • Accommodation:Four season tent
  • Distance: 5 km
  • Hiking Time: 3-5 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

After breakfast, we leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue up to the Barafu camp. At this point, you have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here hot lunch is served, and rest while waiting for dinner, and prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position. Dinner and overnight at the camp

Day 11 : Tanzania, Kilimanjaro

  • Summit attempt Barafu Camp (4600m) - Uhuru Peak (5895m) - Mweka (3100m)
  • Distance: 6 km ascent and 6 km descent-12km total
  • Accommodation: Four season tents
  • Hiking Time: 5-8 hours ascent
  • 2-4 hours descent
  • Habitat: Arctic

Very early in the morning, we continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. At Stella Point (18,600 ft.) 5657M), you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise and view you are ever likely to see (weather permitting). From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all the way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. At Uhuru Peak, you have reached the highest point in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. From the summit, we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Previous camp site, Barafu for lunch. You will want trekking poles going down to Mweka Camp which is situated in the upper forest and mist or rain can be expected in the late afternoon. Later in the evening, we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.

Day 12 : Tanzania, Kilimanjaro

  • Mweka Camp (3100m) - Mweka Gate (1980m)
  • Accommodation: Parkview Inn Moshi
  • Distance: 9 km
  • Hiking Time: 3 hrs
  • Habitat: Rain Forest

After breakfast, we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy sometime. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy). A vehicle will meet you at Mweka gate to drive you back to hotel in Moshi/Arusha. Dinner and celebrations at.

Day 13 : Arusha - Lake Manyara

After breakfast, transfer into Lake Manyara for morning game drive and lunch, a classic safari picnic in the wild, and enjoy our final glimpse of the great wilds of the Northern Tanzania. Lake Manyara offers an insight into the Great Rift Valley system and the adaptation of many herd animals and magnificent birdlife. In the late afternoon, we zig zag our way up the Rift Valley Escarpment overnight. At Kirurumu tented lake view.

Day 14 : Ngorongoro - Southern Serengeti, Ndutu Area

Early morning transfer to the floor of Ngorongoro crater, collapsed volcano an incredible natural amphitheater, 25 km across and teeming with all of the African big game. Early morning descent into the crater for spectacular scenery and game viewing in what has been described as the eighth wonder of the world. After lunch, transfer to the incredible NDUTU areas of the southern Serengeti.Overnight at Ndutu under canvas.

Day 15 : Southern Serengeti, Ndutu Area

Chasing wildebeest migrations..Spend the day exploring the vast plains of the Serengeti, we are able to game drive all through the plains and riverine areas. The lodge is permanent, allowing for optimal wildlife viewing activities while still being close to Ndutu area. Overnight at Ndutukatikati.

Day 16 : Another Full day Game Drive in Ndutu Area

After breakfast, we leisurely game drive en route to Ndutu area towards ngorongoro highlands for your drive back to Arusha

If it will be around middle of March through Mid April, you will be able to witness calving season when approximately 8,000 wildebeest are born every day for a period of approximately 3-5 weeks.

Day 17 : Zanzibar Excursion

Day 18 : Zanzibar (Tanzania)

Fly to the magical island of Zanzibar, from Kilimanjaro int'l airport which is only an hr flight. Here you will enjoy the rest of your day at the beach and get familiar with the locals, since it's your first and short day at the beach/Zanzibar.

Day 19 : Zanzibar (Tanzania)

Spice farm tour in the morning

Day 20 : Zanzibar (Tanzania)

Stone town and prison island visit in the afternoon/lunch and drink by the beach.

Day 21 : Zanzibar (Tanzania)

30 mnts Boat ride to Mnemba island, for snorkeling, all/half day activity(optional)

Day 22 : Zanzibar (Tanzania)

Beach/relaxing day.(optional)

Beach/Spa day, last shopping around stone town, and packing for your next day travel back home-Catch an evening flight to Nairobi-Kenya.
